World Cup Kick-Off on Elba: Handl and Pürstl Battle through the Best
Last Saturday marked the opening round of the Hero Marathon World Cup on the Italian island of Elba – and the entire world elite was on the start line. Among them: Philip Handl and Felix Pürstl from the Bikeleasing Edelsten Racing Team.
The course was as beautiful as it was brutal – a demanding mix of technical singletracks, steep climbs, and stunning panoramic views. Right from the gun, the pace was hectic and incredibly fast, making it difficult to find the right position early on.
After a tough start, both riders settled into the race and delivered a solid performance throughout.
Just a few seconds apart, both teammates crossed the line in 83rd and 87th place, finishing just below Capoliveri. Given the world-class field, the intensity, and the level of competition, this is a very respectable result – even if both riders had hoped for a bit more in terms of placing.
With plenty of motivation and hunger for more, they return home ready to take on the next challenges coming up soon.
